Overdue weekend in Boston

Happy Mother's day to all the awesome
mom's out there. Including mine.

A weekend in Boston was over due.
I spent Friday resting up but Saturday-
I got my run on. I needed to test my
legs since my big race is coming up this
weekend. Yep-15 big ones. But I bought
something to try and help me.

Compression sleeves. Did they help? A little.
They work enough that my pain is mild and dull.
They helped enough to allow me to knock out 6 miles.

I finished my run and devoured a Life Alive wrap.
Hot & Healthy Bachelor if you need to know.

I got my act together and ran over to Casey's for
her birthday pub crawl. It was a Golf theme and
everyone did a great job fitting to the theme.

My tan is ridiculous. It's more like a farmers tan/burn.
I was going for a country club housewife look. It
worked.

I checked out of the party after 5+ hours drinking.
I tried to detox this week so 5 beers over 5ish hours
was enough to make my trek home interesting.
I was apparently really tired since I passed out in my
get up and got 11 hours of sleep. Think that's enough?

I wanted to take George for a nice hike today
to see how he would do. He still hates people
and gets pretty scared when he sees anyone.
But he did great! He was a rock star on the trails.
Everyone stopped me to tell me how beautiful he is.
And I agree. So we hiked the trails. Sniffed around.

Saw some cool trees and nature.

But George was a hot dog. And he refused to drink the
water I brought. Was he holding out for Evian?

Nope. He was holding out for the local creek water
that he also decided to just lay in to cool off.
I didn't blame him.. I was wishing I could join him.

It was a great mother's day spent with George. Now
I'm off to do Sunday things... laundry and cleaning.
YAY!

Finally took the plunge

I think I blinked and it's Sunday.

I finally made kale chips yesterday. I
was scared to try kale and finally took the plunge!
Amazing! New fav veggie.
Recipe:
1- pre-heat oven to 350
2- break kale off of stem.
3- put on baking sheet that is lined with parchment
paper.
4- season with olive oil, salt and anything else you like.
5- bake for 10mins. ENJOY!

So simple and delicious!

After dinner I went out to spend one last
evening with the Europeans. We met at Towne
for drinks and dinner. Just drinks for me. But the
atmosphere was great and the food was tasty.
We went for more drinks at Dillon's after.

Miriam and I enjoying our ciders.

Maggie, Me and Candice. Go Ahead Girls.

It was nice catching up with friends and saying
goodbye to my Europeans. I miss them already!

Today's lunch was put on hold until after 2
because I couldn't decide what to eat. And then it hit me.
I was having a serious craving for Clover for lunch.
I also realized the Grillo's Pickles opened near clover.
I went and ordered 2 spears to go. Then from Clover I
ordered the chickpea fritter to go.
This was easily my lunch of the week winner.
It was very filling and was the perfect lunch.
I recommend hitting up both places. Clover
is frying the pickles from Grillo's but only after
3pm. Unfortunately, I arrived at  2:40 and it wasn't
time yet. But it's something to look forward to!

Question of the day: What kind of lunch do you usually
crave?

It's caveman approved

Today is Frozen Fenway! I've been
looking forward to this for months!
My Alma Mater is playing- Umaine. And
I'm hoping for a big win against UNH!
It's a great day for hockey. The weather is beautiful
out there and I can't wait.

I'll have more on the event tomorrow.

Today I have two AMAZING recipes for you.

First- Palee-Oats!
I love real oatmeal but when I saw this recipe
that Tina posted, I had to give it a whirl. Lots
of people are following the Paleo diet these
days. Here's a great recipe:

Ingredients:
1/4 cup almond milk
3 egg whites
1 small banana (mashed)
cinnamon
vanilla

In a saucepan mix milk, eggs, and banana.
Then mix in cinnamon and vanilla. You can add
more spices or nuts or berries if you want.
Keep whisking until it fluffs up to your liking.
It will look like oats I promise. It should just take 3 or 4
mins to get to a good consistency. It's so fluffy and delicious.
I added 1/4 cup oats to mine and a tbsp of PB.
Holy Hell. Amaaaazing!

You might be skeptical.. but seriously this is my new
favorite breakfast. It just beat out my protein pancakes.
Plus- it's caveman approved.

Second: Easy Breakfast Cookie
1/4 oats
1 egg white
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp vanilla
cinnamon
raisins

Mix the ingredients together
Spray a bowl with canola spray and mold like a
cookie. Microwave for a minute. Don't cook it
too long or it will get too crunchy.
I topped mine with PB of course. I had
one before the gym for a quick healthy bite
to hold me over until my real breakfast.

Enjoy these awesome recipes.

I'm off to get ready for a day of hockey.
And probably beer and fried food.
I can't be healthy all the time.

Do you have any special diet you follow?
Any tips for quick, healthy recipes?

Fancy Feet and Christmas Miracles

I'm in the holiday spirit kids!
Tonight I tried my fancy feet out on the ice.
At Frog Pond to be exact! It was my first time
going and it was great.
The frog was watching the ice!

I jumped on the ice and was ready!
No falls on my end. I did try to do some serious tricks.
AKA extend one arm and one leg.I was pretty good. But I
got a little cold and it was time for a hot cocoa break!

My face was bright red from exhausting myself on the ice.
Ok- it was really due to the extreme cold.

We hit the ice again but Jillian fell soon after.
We decided to call it a night because of her
injuries. Yikes! Hope you're hanging in there girl.

Then I came home to a Christmas miracle. An insane
awesomeness swept through our apartment.
Santa (aka Katie) gave us our favorite new books
for Christmas. You can see the vast differences in us by
our choices. Katie is a seriously wonderful, generous and good
woman. I'm hoping she gets her own Christmas miracle ;) I have
a good feeling some seriously cool things are coming her way.

Ok- seriously though. This morning I went to boot camp at my
gym. Real name- Hell. It included spinning and weights. Intervals.
I have a good feeling I'm going to hurt like heck in the morning.
But you know what they say- no pain no gain! I hope you all
are getting after it this season as well.

I leave you with the awesomeness of Lily this evening.
